Fresh full of pastels and sugar-coated frivolity, my mind wraps around last years major trend (that still seems to be striving full-force this season) of muted blues and pinks for the bride herself (take that bridesmaids)!  I mean, Gwen Stefani had her gown dip-dyed in pink – why not the modern bride?  Marie Antoinette is lending some serious stylespiration to ladies looking to fall in love with their wedding dress – proving you can not only have fun with color, but also with feminine and outlandishly girly accents and details.  It is only fair that since you’ve been dreaming about your big day since you were a little girl that you get to live out a part of the fairytale glee!

As soon as I have a spare moment of course I will be trying to hunt this baby down on my Netflix account (which, by the way I have become dangerously addicted to)!!!

Today we are lending inspiration from the past.  Royal weddings are always bountiful, decadent and star studded (I’ve been catching up on the Tudor’s series and adore watching the ceremonies, celebrations and jewels involved).  Grace Kelly’s fairytale romance is a gorgeous reenactment (perhaps) of what is to come this year with Wills and Kate… enjoy the beauty in black and white!

This week, I am here in New York to snap up some of the cities best street style, meet new (and hopefully some familiar) faces, and get completely absorbed in the thrill of the fast life (with fashion shows back to back it will be a feat in itself just trying to keep up with everything)!

One of my favorite shows to date, is none other than every brides fave – Monique L’Huillier.  Bringing the glamor back to ready to wear, next season she will have you stocking your wardrobes with chic bows, textured wools and divine french lace *le sigh*…

A new ladylike chic is in the air for the coming fall/winter… even on Montreal runways it was apparent that designers are returning to a ladylike reinvented retro chic of sorts (and I’m alllll for it)!

Not only will you be wearing Monique on your big day, but adding accents of her aesthetics to your total look lets you carry on the fairytale fantasy after the wedding is said and done (I’m sure your bridesmaids would LOVE to be wearing one of these chic gowns as a bridal party necessity)!

This year I made a bit of a vow to myself… I would make every little step in the right direction something worthy of celebrating.  Life can be immensely hard at times – no doubt it is a struggle for many.  It is time to start rewarding ourselves and others for the simple accomplishments in life.  Good health, good friends, a perfect night or a new job position.  It is the everyday that needs to start being seen as the incredible.

No doubt your wedding is a huge day.  It is the amazing miracle of finding a love so divine to share your life with and express your gratitude with those you love around you.  An iconic day in your life – the beginning of a new life filled with joy, support and adventure.

Champagne has seemingly become something of a tradition – the ultimate in toasting to the future, something everyone can really raise their glasses to.

Make the toast memorable.  No, you do not have to have a huge budget to share a glass of bubbly with your guests – even a great sparkling wine will suffice (and if you add a strawberry, most will not even be able to tell the difference).  If you do have the budget, opt for something your guests won’t soon forget…

Veuve Cliquot (rose and vintage) remains one of my all-time faves, Moet (and it’s new cover girl Scarlett Johansson) is always a crowd pleaser (if only because it’s so widely recognized), but the new kid on the block…

Rated the number 1 champagne in the world (for even the pickiest palates), the gold-plated bottles plaqued with pewter luxe labels come straight out of a beautiful velvet bag (how’s that for a crazy-lush gift for your best man/maid of honor?).

Wanna wow your guests?

While a true connaisseur of the spirit would never allow the cork to pop to preserve it’s natural flavor, sometimes it is just fun to make a bit of a party scene.  On every bottle, there is a seam.  While corked, if you run a knife sturdily along it up to the cork (in a swift motion), the pressure alone will force a clean cut off the top of the bottle!  No better way to celebrate than starting the party off in such a suave manner ;) .

Choose from a variety of designs and icing in shades of pink and red (or go custom with his favorite colors).  Make them heart shaped, or place mini’s together and arrange them in a heart for the ultimate love statement.  Add to your designs by adorning your creations with multicolored sprinkles and fondant cutouts in fun shapes (and try not to eat all the powdered sugar all yourself) :) .

Red Velvet is always a crowd pleaser (one of the most divine flavors when it comes to chocolate)!

You could always wrap your wine bottles in stylish fabric origami (customized with you and your partners initials if you wish), or add spice to the serving trays during cocktail hour by serving hor d’oeuvre’s on little origami plates and doilies!  It’s the little things that are always the most memorable when it comes to weddings and other events – let this imaginative art blow your guests away ;) .

A beautiful touch before and after the big day?

Get really creative and make origami save the date or thank you cards (or why not both?).  Put your own special flair in sending copies of the wedding video to your bridal party in beautiful handmade (and adorned) envelopes.

Pick up a picture step-by-step book from your local library or bookstore or search google for the perfect DIY how-to’s.

My personal favorite?

Paper cranes.  I have heard so many amazing (and equally inspiring stories) about wishes being granted and prayers being answered from dedicated artists who produce over a thousand of them.  In Chinese tradition, this action is said to heal and offer good luck as an omen.
